I trained as a guitar and mandolin maker with Herbert Schwartz and Mike Gee at the London College of Furniture (London Metropolitan University), graduating in 1988. Gradually my focus shifted from guitar to violin and I made the decision to move wholly to violin making.
From 1988 to 1989 I lectured on the Guitar Making course at the London College of Furniture. Following this, from 1991 to 2021 I taught on the Guitar and Violin musical instrument making course at Anniesland College, now known as Glasgow Clyde College. Throughout this time I produced a variety of guitars and instruments of the violin and mandolin family.
